★RanksGiving: Americans pretend to care about our homeless around Thanksgiving. We rank our favorite holidays where we don’t have to think about them, and also rank the most needed items to donate to homeless shelters (since we’re in the giving spirit!)
★Treat Yo’ Self: Non-sexual skin to skin contact is a vital part of human development. In American society, men are generally discouraged from physical closeness due to hetero-patriarical norms (“That’s gay!”) We discuss the implications, and our last instances of non-sexual human contact: including massages, manicures, pedicures, haircuts, extended hugs, etc.
★The Trump Card: A Black Lives Matter protestor was assaulted at a Donald Trump rally by Trump supporters. Afterwards, ‘The Donald’ issued racist comments and tweets supporting the assault. We discuss why violence against Black Americans can be praised by a presidential frontrunner in 2015, but Black protestors using violence is never tolerated.
★Winners Circle: Billboard and the America Music Awards recently weighed in on their favorite rappers. As always, hip-hop fans were in 100% agreement with their choices. We celebrate!
★Boybie: Mattel put a boy in a Barbie ad for the first time ever. Many are praising the ad for deconstructing gender roles. Others are pointing out that Barbies have been enforcing gender roles and unattainable beauty standards for women for half a century. Is there any danger in corporations using seemingly progressive sentiment to enforce the status quo?
★Family Feud: We share stories of racist/homophobic/etc relatives at Thanksgiving, and the best way to deal with them at the dinner table.
★Beard Gang: In honor of No-Shave November and the epic beards featured on this episode, we discuss some of the strangest questions and actions people have waged against our facial hair.
