When Lifting was Crude, A Tribute to Attitude and the Legend Bob Rood
Manage episode 282046718 series 2854304
Robert V. Rood died in 2013. Bob began lifting in 1969. Coach Rood competed from 1974 until 2012. I can't count the number of National Titles he won, but it was over 30, yes, THIRTY. Bob left a mark on Mid Atlantic Powerlifting that is still felt today. He was always quick with a smile or laugh or a slap to get the frustrated athlete back in shape mentally. His knowledge of lifters in the sport was unapproachable. He knew lifter's 'numbers' like a baseball junkie statistician. One of the last of the tough guys that was always in the gym no matter his personal circumstances or the apparent external problems. His philosophy carries on in many lifters and coaches today. We can all learn something from his life and training methods summarized in this podcast. Thanks Bob.
