Viral Variants, Selective Pressure and News Station Silliness: Understanding the Laws of Science and Biology ( Viruses Part 2)
Manage episode 297350421 series 2854304
A selective pressure is any reason for organisms with certain phenotypes to have either a survival benefit or disadvantage. Selective pressures leads natural selection. Viruses follow the laws of biology like Selective Pressure. Mutations (Variants) lead to changes and survivability of the virus. Too many pressures lead to weakening of the virus. Minimal selective pressures lead to the statistical probability the virus will adapt in a way to allow it to survive (stronger). Thanks guys!
