Good evening and welcome to this week’s episode of Positively Autistic: Sarah’s Autism Chat, presented to you by Sarah Scrimshaw and Joe Westlake. The show will air at 7pm UK time. This week on the show, we will be talking to the wonderful Anita Lesko from Pensacola, Florida, USA. Anita is an autism advocate and author and has an incredible story to share with us, as she talks about her diagnoses of autism at age 50 and the challenges she has overcome in this time in her career. During the show, Sarah and Joe talk to Anita all about the vital importance of setting up children and teens with the vital skills they need in order to gain employment as individuals on the spectrum. Anita, a Certified Nurse Anaesthetist, talks of the challenges she has come across during her career and how she has successfully combatted these, giving crucial advice to parents and those on the spectrum regarding skills they need to help them gain employment. Furthermore, we will be talking to Anita all about her wonderful All Autism Wedding that took place just over a year ago. We will also talk with Anita about celebrating her recent one year anniversary, with her husband, Abraham, who is also on the autism spectrum. Anita sheds light on what it is like to be in a relationship with another individual on the spectrum, spreading the important, empowering message, that people with autism still love and can be in relationships.
