Maternal healthcare in the United States is in a state of crisis. Alarming statistics reveal that the U.S. ranks 55th globally in maternal health outcomes and holds the highest maternal mortality rate among developed nations. More than 80% of pregnancy-related deaths are preventable. We must face it and work together to find a solution. The bigger question before us: Where do we begin?

In this two-part episode, we have an insightful discussion with two distinguished healthcare experts, Molly Firth and Suzanne Wertman. We'll discuss maternal health's strengths and challenges, exploring the vital role of midwives, insurance-covered doulas, postpartum care, and the need for policy changes.
In this conversation, Liz brought aboard Michealle Gady, Atrómitos' Founder, President, and CEO, to dive into the intricacies of maternal care to understand what critical changes are needed to address this crisis.
From personal tales to professional expertise, Molly and Suzanne provide a bounty of information, educating us all about why we need to shift how we care for pregnant people.
