In this episode, John and Rick had a great conversation about MIVA, an Ecommerce pioneer. They discussed it all from their younger years to maturity in markets, as well as MIVA. John asked Rick about Amazon’s peak. Both of them then went on to discuss how the search market has changed over time for every generation. They highlighted how Google is losing search market share, with Yelp now finding restaurants and GenZ using TikTok instead. He also shared emerging search trends across different generations - while Google is losing search engine market share to Yelp amongst millennials who are looking for places to eat, GenZs are using Tiktok as their go-to platform for finding what they need quickly.
Amazon’s Peak: According to Rick, Amazon is at its peak right now but he also believes that they are too big and too dominant in the market which will lead to their downfall as other smaller companies can move in and fill the void that Amazon.
Search Market Share: Google is losing search market share in certain areas due to Yelp being used for finding restaurants and GenZ using Tiktok for all sorts of needs. As such, there is an opportunity for entrepreneurs to capitalize on these changes by creating platforms that cater specifically to those needs.
ChatGPT : ChatGPT is an AI-powered platform that enables customers to have conversations with computers. This technology has allowed MIVA customers to create personalized experiences for their customers through AI-generated conversations.
Tiktok For Finding Restaurants: According to Rick, TikTok can be used as a great tool for finding restaurants as people have been able to use it to find places near them or even places that are in different cities or states.
