Join us on an emotionally charged journey as we delve into the life story of Carol Umanzor, the inspiring Founder of Born to be Seen. In this episode, we will explore the profound impact of her upbringing on the financial perspective of women of color.

Carol's tale will transport you from the landscapes of El Salvador to the streets of California, where her parents sought refuge from economic hardships. As undocumented immigrants, they tirelessly worked to provide a better life for Carol and her siblings, driven by an unwavering belief in their children's potential for financial independence. They instilled values of financial self-sufficiency, higher education, and taking bold risks, encouraging their children not to rely solely on marriage for security.

Together, Carol and I will delve into the profound effects of this upbringing, exploring ways to reshape the narrative for the next generation. Most importantly, we will address how daughters of immigrants can heal their wounds by bravely seeking the support they need to forge a future that is truly fulfilling.

Carol’s business, Born to be Seen, centers on the idea that we were all Born to be Seen and celebrated as we are. She holds a Master of Art in Teaching and a Master of Science in Cell Molecular Biology. She was a science teacher for several years and it was this experience that shaped Carol’s desire to share her journey in emotional wellness with others.

In her business, Carol centers on a humanizing approach that is intersectional, responsive, and inclusive. She is revving up to offer various ways to tap into “The Journe”y including workshops, resources, content, and more!
