Lightning Minerals achieves early success in Brazil with spodumene discover at Esperança

Lightning Minerals Ltd (ASX:L1M) managing director Alex Biggs talked with Proactive's Stephen Gunnion about the company’s discovery of spodumene within a lithium-bearing pegmatite at the Esperança project in Brazil. Biggs described the find as a “great first step” for the company since acquiring the project in August. The discovery, located in the prolific Lithium Valley region of Minas Gerais, is characterised by large spodumene crystals with grades of up to 4.04% Li2O. Biggs highlighted the benefits of the large crystal size for processing efficiency, recovery, and cost-effectiveness. Drilling at the site is scheduled to begin in Q1 2025. The company’s exploration activities at Esperança include ground reconnaissance, soil sampling, and upcoming geophysics. Biggs also expressed confidence in the broader potential of Lightning Minerals’ three projects in the region, noting early positive indicators such as elevated lithium in soil results at other sites like Canabrava. “It’s a fantastic step for us,” said Biggs, emphasising the efforts of the geology team and the significance of this milestone for shareholders.
