KINKY IN THE KITCHEN PODCAST SHOW NOTES
Episode 8: "The Experiment Child"
Host: Lisa. E
Guest: Lisa E. Smith
EPISODE SUMMARY
This podcast is dedicated to celebrating the journey of black women to embrace their natural hair, with our host, Lisa. E, aka Natural Born Sistah,, who inspires black women to groom and confidently flaunt their natural hair.
In this episode with Lisa E, a Natural Hair Enthusiast describes a series of life events that surrounded her natural hair journey. Her story takes us on an interesting timeline that she never would have thought that would lead her to her end result of being natural. Also, talking about her 15 year old pregnancy and being a high-school drop out, Lisa has overcome several adversities to become the woman she is today. Lisa emphasizes that it’s not your business what others think of you, it’s how you represent yourself in the way you want to be represented.
SHOW NOTES
Lisa initially went natural in her early 30’s and started wearing wigs because she did not know what to do with her natural hair. For Lisa, this was the new way of how things were going to be. At least she thought. This new look would allow her hair to stay natural under the wigs she wore. After several years with an every 2 week routine of washing, conditioning and braiding, she decided to embrace her natural hair.
Although Lisa loved the idea of her natural hair, she just wasn’t ready for others to accept the idea of showing her natural hair. The Jheri Curl, Relaxers, Weaves and Wigs could never prepare her for the opportunity to embrace her own natural hair.
