A Listeners Experience with Intuitive Eating and The Current Situation In Israel
Manage episode 381427291 series 2773841
Hi everyone!
I know it is so hard to go about regular life right now!
I am putting out this episode for a few reasons. Number one, we all need something interesting's to listen to.
Number two- please send in your stories or questions! I am happy to address them here on the podcast.
Number 3- I wanted to share my thoughts/feelings and experience in my own life right now.
Here is the email I received from Shoshana:
"Hi Gila! I've actually been wanting to contact you for a long time. My name is Shoshana Levison. We're about the same age, and I grew up in the US (New Jersey). I love the podcast and it gives me a lot of strength, especially when I am surrounded by diet culture in my extended family. Thankfully, I was actually introduced to intuitive eating (by my mom! I was very lucky B"H) at around the age of 15 and I've been practicing it since then. So it's been a while! I've been wanting to talk about what an impact that made on me, and how I feel like it's been such a great compass in my life through the many twists and turns that my life has taken- From being in shidduchim for a while, getting a chronic illness as an adult, B"H getting married but then not getting pregnant right away, being told I have PCOS and need to lose weight (spoiler alert- I didn't), then B"H pregnancy but with a moderate form of hyperemesis gravidarum/severe nausea and vomiting...Like you say, it's about a lot more than just the food. I thought it might be interesting for listeners to hear from someone who has been practicing this lifestyle since I was a teenager. My family made Aliyah around that time as well (when I was 16). Baruch Hashem I now live in Ramat Beit Shemesh with my husband and young kids. I can also talk about how we are doing here and how I've been implementing the concepts during a time of war when stress is at an all time high. I am also a certified Teacher and have taught in schools here. I also trained in EFT with Rabbi Legomsky from the Israel Trauma Center. Basically, there's a lot I can talk about Let me know if you are interested! We consider ourselves chareidi, but my husband actually served in the army before we got married and now works in security. Many of his co-workers have been called up for reserves so he is doing a lot of extra shifts the past few weeks. And my kids are not having regular gan...So basically I don't have a lot of time in which to speak with you live, although that would be great. I really agree with a lot of things that you speak about and have been wanting to talk for a while! Was thinking maybe I can record something for your audience, or maybe we can find a time that works for both of us (I think for me it would only work after 9:30 pm here which is the afternoon by you, so don't know if that works for you)
Anyway let me know what you think!
