Many of us first tried weed when we were teenagers for the pure joy of being high. But as we age and start facing aches, pains, and more severe health issues, cannabis may play a very different role in our lives as an everyday medicine.
Seasoned stoners might know where to start when consuming to treat an ailment. But for new or returning consumers, picking the products that might work best for you is not easy.
So how can we transition from using cannabis casually or recreationally to using it regularly and intentionally to help heal our bodies?
This week, host Brit Smith talks to Sara Payan, an award-winning cannabis educator, policy advocate, and author, who switched from smoking cannabis for relaxation to using it for the side effects of chemotherapy for stage 3 colon cancer.
Brit and Sara discuss her experience changing from consuming for pleasure to consuming for pain, and how cannabis and CBD help many cancer patients with nausea, appetite issues, physical pain, depression, and anxiety.
They also cover what kind of cannabis products Sara found worked best for her cancer-related problems, how she now educates doctors, policymakers, and new medical consumers on picking products and dosages, and why budtender training is so important to fill the gap between wellness consumers and recreational sales.
Find out more about Sara on her cannabis education podcast – Planted with Sara Payan.
