The 1980's were a time before mass access to the internet and the time when HIV and AIDS first came to Australia. The Australian community responded to this new modern-day leprosy with crippling fear, terror, appalling discrimination and loathing – of people – young Australian people. It was surely, the darkest of times. 'It was the time we collectively stained our Australian soul' – Drew Browne, founder of Unusual Risks Insured. What happened to our young people in the late 1980’s must never be forgotten; the impact of their short lives remembered and recorded before the sands of time and volumes of social media overshadow their story. It was the time when a Grandmother named Patricia, and her band of volunteers, stood up for those who had lost their voice. This is the inspiring Story of Patricia Kennedy, OAM and her fight to do what’s right - Battling HIV Stigma in Australia.
