Fighting climate change means juggling a thousand moving parts, from how we power our cities to how insects sustain our ecosystems. Artificial intelligence is uniquely equipped to take on that scale of challenge, analyzing massive data sets, predicting problems before they happen, and unlocking solutions humans alone could never achieve. In this episode, hosts Dominique Silva and guest co-host Rebecca Handfield (BrainBox AI) speak with Jean-Simon Venne, co-founder of BrainBox AI and leader of the BrainBox business at Trane Technologies, and Dr. David Rolnick, Assistant Professor at McGill University and co-founder of Climate Change AI. They share how AI can slash building emissions, extend equipment life, and open up new frontiers in biodiversity research. We also take a behind-the-scenes look at Trane Technologies’ new AI Lab in Montreal, where the next generation of HVAC innovation is being designed and created. With a focus on practical applications over theory, the lab is harnessing AI as a powerful ally in the fight against climate change, while keeping ethics, responsibility, and trust at the center of every breakthrough. About Healthy Spaces Healthy Spaces is a podcast by Trane Technologies where experts and disruptors explore how climate technology and innovation are transforming the spaces where we live, work, learn and play. This season, hosts Dominique Silva and Scott Tew bring a fresh batch of uplifting stories, featuring inspiring people who are overcoming challenges to drive positive change across multiple industries. We’ll discover how technology and AI can drive business growth, and help the planet breathe a little bit easier. Listen and subscribe to Healthy Spaces on your favorite podcast platforms. 1 CEO of Holistic Fertility Institute, Tough Birth and Parenting with Aumatma Simmons - S7 E67 40:07
I started with saying NO to having babies (with the guy I was married to). This took me down the fertility rabbit hole trying to figure out if I was going to be able to have a child one day, with the right person. Eventually, I met the right person, and worked to prep my body for a year before saying yes to getting pregnant - and we got pregnant on the first try. Pregnancy was easy & birth was not! From induction to flailing epidurals, it was 36 hours of labor before meeting our baby boy. He's now 7, and parenting is... fun, challenging, and exhausting -- especially while being a serial entrepreneur. I'm the CEO of Holistic Fertility Institute- training doctors who want to specialize in fertility, and supporting couples who want to conceive. I'm also the co-founder of Madre Fertility, the first Smart Fertility Analyzer that uses AI to help couples understand the root causes of their fertility struggles. I’ve spent 20+ years leading remote teams—first as an EVP at DreamWorks and a VP at 20th Century Fox and then as a 3x tech CEO. Along the way I learned that what actually makes remote work successful isn’t what most people focus on…and I picked up some amusing stories that illustrate these learnings. I run a community of 34K productivity-minded people in The Sukha and I've heard your name from some of them. I’d love to join you on Becoming Parents - Birth Stories and Birthwork Wisdom to share the unexpected lessons from Hollywood and tech—things that remote workers and leaders rarely hear but need to know. I run a remote working community and I've studied the last 6 years about Flow States, tips and tricks to maintain focus while working from home. Sukha is the focus app for remote work. I'm having my first child (son/IVF) in November and this summer I am sharing lessons I've learned along the way. www.thesukha.co/media has fun content about my journey, things I can speak to with intelligence and humor, etc. etc. I run a remote working community and app. FIND HIM HERE: www.TheSukha.co Steven@TheSukha.co https://www.linkedin.com/in/steven-puri/…

1 Stepmom Before Parenting Her Bio Child, Isolation, Age Gaps, Blended Family with Amy Stone - S7 E65 33:04
I was a stepmom before I was a mom. So my first child was my husband's third child. I have two kids and two stepkids with a pretty fair age-gap between them and bringing everybody together as a family was harder than expected. I was surprised at how isolating motherhood was ... I was never alone and also felt alone. I did not have depression. The second birth was much faster than expected and without pain relief which was not at all my plan ...but it is how it went. :-) Amy Stone is an author, coach, and creator of The Art of Imperfect Adulting, where she champions adults navigating life's rich complexities. Through her engaging interview-style podcast and vibrant online community, she empowers individuals to embrace non-linear life journeys and continuous personal growth. She’s a mom, a stepmom and a seven-time Ironman finisher who bakes sourdough bread. Amy combines lived experience with practical guidance to foster authentic personal development. 1 Attorney to Transformational Mentoring, Miscarriage & Parenting a child with ADHD - Arlene Cohen Miller - S7 E63 33:29
* I discovered that I was pregnant at age 29 a month after opening my own solo legal practice in a suburb of Cleveland, OH * My partner and I grew up in Louisville, KY. Our families were there, so we had no day-to-day support from them * My law school colleagues were practicing law 5 to 6 hours' drive away from where I was living. * I had to build my own tribe as a working mother. My partner was working 70 or more hours a week. So, although he was providing food and shelter, I was on my own as a parent and business woman. * I suffered a bad miscarriage when my son was 2 years old, and was hospitalized for a week because of heavy bleeding and passing lots of blood clots. My mother flew in and took care of my son and brought him to the hospital to visit me. It was years later that I finally felt the grief of this loss and allowed myself to heal from this trauma. * I divorced when my son was almost 3 years old and he developed ADHD. I went on a healing journey to help him, and in the process began healing myself. I studied all kinds of healing modalities in an effort to keep him off drugs for his condition. * I have been a working mother - married, divorced, remarried and single since my son was born * He is now a successful entrepreneur with a son of his own. For years, I was an attorney. I am still licensed to practice law in Colorado. I owned a sold a solo practice that I started in Lakewood, OH, a suburb of Cleveland I used the proceeds of the sale to buy into a firm in Longmont, CO, near Denver, and became a partner in the firm. We sold the firm several years ago I opened Jewel Consultancy, and am the CEO of the company offering Work-Life Harmony and Balance Coaching, Transformational Mentoring and Soul Readings. - As a teenager I was taught - as many are - that slip up once in the bed and you are pregnant - Always figured kids would simply happen but they weren't my one big dream that would make me satisfied in life. I have always been spontaneous and loved adventure and travel and possibility. - Decided to get married. Decided to have kids. 3 years later, not pregnant. - lucked out to be living in Cambridgeshire England (we're Canadian) at that exact time, as IVF was covered by public health for 3 rounds. - felt grateful and lucky - One fresh round, pregnant. Twins. Early miscarriage. - frozen round, 2 put in, one baby created on Canada day, ironically, and brought me my first child. - gestational diabetes, frequent monitoring, super healthy, early induction 37 weeks and 4 days. - emergency c section, with plenty of trauma, blood loss, full general anesthetic, baby with group b strep, 9 days in the hospital, husband not allowed overnight. - baby sick with snotty cold full 2nd month - then I felt like I was born to be a mother for 3 years. Brought my baby with me on adventures, Built a community of other spontaneous folk. - Got pregnant with second with no IVF, somewhat without trying - took control of birth, doula, different hospital, the full deal. - 2nd child 3 years apart. Very hard. Couldn't meet everyone's needs. Isolated in England. - Moved back to Canada March 2020 in height of pandemic - a dark year of feeling no purpose - then started an applied positive psychology course, then the coaching course, and found my community of people who want to learn similar things to me and found myself again. - now, I coach, I learn, I take small courageous steps and I'm building The Courage Club, where women meet, play, laugh, and try new things together to build our courage muscles...so that when we want to go for that big, audacious dream, our bodies and brains remember that we can do scary things. Depression, Anxiety, Parenting, NLP & Hypnotherapy Practice with Craig Meriwether - S7 E58 Starting when I was a teenager I struggled for many years with depression and anxiety. It was with the birth of my son that I found the resolve to heal. My mother struggled with depression as did I and whether it was nurture or nature I want to make sure I would be able to help my son if he fell into the dark hole of depression. I found healing by learning to take back control of my subconscious mind and nervous system through hypnotherapy and NLP techniques. After learning so much I trained to become a clinical hypnotherapist myself. I am a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist, Medical Hypnosis Specialist, Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) specialist, and Founder of Arizona Integrative Hypnotherapy helping people eliminate the negative emotions and limiting beliefs that may be keeping them from reaching their full potential. 1 Parenting 2, Nutrition for Pregnancy and Beyond through Vital Earth Minerals with Kortney Leany - S7 E56 38:05
-Mother of two. Both born in a hospital using anesthesia and post care medications. -I was never taught about how important pre- and post-natal care is during my parenting journey (aside from "walk as much as you can" and "take prenatal pills every day") and thought that physical activity was the most important aspect. -I've since learned that nutrition should be a fundamental aspect to everyone's journey whether they're a parent or not and to also be made aware that hospitals and doctors might not properly inform you on vital information that could save some women from a lot of negative side effects both long-term and short-term. -I also want to give hope to moms with older children that it's never too late to take you and your children's health into your own hands and give simple solutions to very busy people to be able to live healthier, more fulfilled lives. I've owned my own personal training gym as well as a small spa and now I do marketing for Vital Earth Minerals while still doing fitness consulting on the side. - I am not a parent, but I am a DONA International certified Birth Doula working in North Carolina - I did not learn about what a doula was until the age of 26 years old in graduate school. Once I learned about the field, it instantly clicked for me. I've always been fascinated with birth but never wanted to be a nurse or doctor. - I had some fears around becoming a labor support doula and not having gone through childbirth but my training reassured me that I was able to do the job - I learned of the Alliance of Black Doulas for Black Mamas (which was rebranded to LEADDoula) through an email listserv that a friend sent me, because she knew I wanted to be doula - ABDBM or LEAD was strictly for Black women who wanted to become doulas, and was focused on serving black birthing people and their families - It was a 6 week program with culturally tailored education, included all required DONA International training to become certified, and afterwards, we were required to serve as doula for at least 3 births to be eligible for DONA certification - Between the program and my own clients, I've had 13 births - Fun fact: My first birth was a cesarean section - I love serving as a birth doula because of the relationships I have built with the moms and families I've served. Being with a woman at her most intimate and vulnerable time of childbirth is such a special gift FIND HER HERE: linkedin.com/in/jnmclean3…

1 8 Years of Infertility to Coaching, A Podcast, & Best Selling Book - Fertile Ground with Spenser Brassard - S7 E53 36:03
It took me 8 years to get pregnant. I went through loss, IVF, many (MANY!) diet changes, holistic modalities -- and nothing was working. I decided to become a Life Coach so that I could stop suffering through the uncertainty of it all. In my certification, I learned mind-body tools that helped me to eventually get pregnant naturally -- and now I teach women all around the world to do the same. I also wrote a new best selling book called: Fertile Ground, that I'd love to promote on your podcast. It teaches women the mind-body approach to getting pregnant -- without it taking over their lives. I believe that the trying to conceive journey can be incredible parenting prep. It taught me the tools I needed to handle the uncertainty of conception, pregnancy, labor, and motherhood. To let go of perfectionism and to trust myself. It was a catalyst to step out of "what I was supposed to do" and into what made me feel at peace -- even if it was different from the norm. I am a life and fertility coach. 1 Speech Therapist, Becoming A Parent, Reiki, & Conscious Parenting Podcast with Carrie Lingenfelter - S7 E52 29:43
I was previously an educator and early child interventionist speech therapist but was brought to my knees when I became a parent I tried to fit into the box of what parenting should be like but realized that I needed to follow my own heart and gut feelings as well as my child's cues about sleep schedule, nursing times, and other parenting pieces right from the start of becoming a parent I learned to throw out the parenting books which really made me so nervous about labor and delivery- but it wasn't until after I had my first baby. Luckily, I grew so much in that first experience that I was in such a different place with my second baby. I got to have a mother's blessing before having my second baby and even though she came a month early and was in the NICU for a couple of days, we had such a better experience because we were all connected with ourselves and with each other, including the connection between my husband and myself I love sharing these pieces with the listeners of my podcast and other podcasts so that parents can look at empowering themselves and hearing their own hearts and guts before they even have kids. We can get so swept up in trying to stick inside of society's box of how we should parent even during our pregnancies I host a conscious parenting podcast where we provide parents tools for raising mindful children. I was an educator and early intervention speech therapist before having my two spirited, gifted, highly sensitive, and neurodivergent kids. I love connecting with other parents who are also raising conscious kids so that we don't feel alone in our parenting journeys. 1 Not Wanting Kids, Two Traumatic C-Sections, Unable to Breastfeed, Autism, & Nope Coach with Suzanne Culberg - S7 E51 40:01
*I fell pregnant easily, the first month trying with my daughter, and a surprise with my son! *That was the only easy part of my journey, both pregnancies were challenging! *My daughter's birth was quite traumatic, 5 days of induction resulting in an emergency c-section. *My son's birth was very healing, a planned c-section. *I was unable to breastfeed either child, and had a lot of feelings of guilt and failure that took MANY years to overcome. *My son is on the spectrum, the official diagnosis took over 2 years, and I'm blessed to live in a country that has so many supports in place for him. I was in a domestic violence marriage with my oldest and because of her, got us out and reinvented myself so that I could be a mom that she could be proud of. With my youngest I was diagnosed with cancer and given only a 5% chance to live while I was 7 months pregnant. I couldn't be the mom I wanted to be, I couldn't even really hold her let alone take care of her for the first year but we both made it! and I'm more aligned and connected to divine love and intelligence because of her. Had my son when I was 36 years old in 2012. Very long labor that ended up being a c-section. My son was very healthy and normally developing until he was 13 months old. He had a fall from our bed, just 18" off the ground, and suffered a large brain bleed. He had an emergency craniotomy and a few days later he had a stroke. He'll be 12 years old on 10/19/2024. He still has no functional use of his right arm or hand, but has accomplished so much. Being a speech therapist was key in early intervention for my son. I continue to use my over 20 years of experience to help my son and other children. BIO: Jeaneen Tang, speech-language pathologist and mother of a special needs child. Along with her over 20 years of experience working with children and adults with neurodiversity, she also has an 11 year old son who is neurodivergent. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and stroke at 13 months old. Her personal and professional relationship with this amazing population has forever changed her. She hopes to change their world too. She recently published her first book called PLAY DUMB & SABOTAGE. It addresses early language development and is meant to be helpful for parents, caregivers, and educators to work with young children and hopefully decrease the number of children needing speech therapy. Through preventative training, she believes we can achieve success and raise confident communicators. 1 Postpartum Depression and Feeling Blindsided with Overwhelm in Postpartum with Marissa Zwetow S7 E39 36:44
I was blindsided with the overwhelm and lack of enjoyment when I became a mother. I had heard about postpartum depression, but didn’t hear anyone really be candid about how hard it is or unenjoyable outside of a mental health or postpartum depression context, which understandably would be scary and vulnerable to share. I knew that the validation I so desperately sought out was missing in postpartum conversations and I had to give voice to what I went through and help another person on a similar journey through my private therapy and coaching practice as a licensed therapist and by writing a book about my postpartum journey and research. https://a.co/d/0WzBJet Get your free copy of 12 taboo postpartum truths: What you may need to know, but probably haven't been told - https://www.postpartumhappiness.com/free-postpartum-article I'm a licensed mental health therapist and coach specializing in supporting new moms in private practice FIND HER HERE: www.postpartumhappiness.com https://www.facebook.com/postpartumhappiness/ https://www.instagram.com/postpartumhappiness/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/marissa-zwetow-lmft/ https://www.tiktok.com/@postpartumhappiness Text 949-424-3034 info@postpartumhappiness.com…

World-renowned researcher Dr. Dawn Kingston shares new insights regarding the impact of a mother's mental health on fetal development in her upcoming U.S. book release, Your Brain on Pregnancy (September 17, 2024). Within it, she leverages her over 25 years of expertise (including as a NICU nurse) to share groundbreaking insights at the intersection of maternal mental health and fetal development. The book is an enlightening and practical guidebook for mothers to help them navigate mental health challenges during and after pregnancy. A timely topic, in 2023, the White House, under the advisement of the Centre for Disease Control and the American Psychiatric Association, issued a report stating that the United States faces alarmingly high rates of perinatal mental health conditions, such as prenatal & postpartum depression and anxiety, and tragically, these preventable conditions are the leading cause of pregnancy-related deaths in the country. Dr. Kingston is an excellent interview subject to discuss the latest scientific understanding of how maternal mental health affects fetal development. She is available for an interview and print ARCs are available upon request. Please let me know if I can send one your way. My journey to parenthood was marked by 6 years of longing and uncertainty. I endured numerous medical procedures and the heartache of repeated disappointments. Accepting that parenthood might not be part of my story was challenging. I was open to adoption, but it also presented its challenges. In 2013, after one final attempt at IVF, I was blessed with healthy twin boys. This moment transformed my journey into one of profound joy and fulfillment. With over 20 years of experience as the founder of Lucky Chick Beauty, I was familiar with life’s ups and downs as an entrepreneur, but nothing prepared me for the challenges of making a baby. While others seemed to achieve parenthood easily, my path was more complex. I faced the demands of injecting medications and surgically implanting embryos. Today, my fertility struggles put life’s challenges in perspective. I’m grateful that more people are open about their struggles, helping others feel less alone on their journey to parenthood. My fertility journey now guides me in both my business and life. It was a test of perseverance that everyone must endure to thrive in the world. 1 Mom Of Non-Verbal Child With Autism Helps Him Communicate & Write A Book - Laura Hirsch S7 E29 34:58
LOCAL EDITION EPISODE! Mom Of Non-Verbal Child With Autism Helps Him Communicate & Write A Book - Laura Hirsch S7 E29 More Than Meets the Eye is a collaboration between a mother and son, Laura Hirsch and Trevor Hirsch. Trevor was diagnosed with regressive autism at age three. He is now 25 years old. He does not say a lot verbally, however Trevor learned how to play the piano and sing songs when he was 21 years old. Then, two years later, he started doing Spelling 2 Communicate, and learned to spell on a letterboard what he couldn’t say verbally. He spelled to his mom that he wanted to write a book with her about his life to inspire others. Trevor even chose the title of the book. As an author of numerous books, Laura knew she had to tell Trevor’s story. This method is giving a voice to the voiceless millions who have been trapped in a silent cage, and have been misunderstood their entire lives. If this wasn’t enough, since Trevor has been doing Spelling 2 Communicate, he has been able to share with Laura that he has other gifts of telepathy and mediumship, and has proven that he can communicate with his horse, and angels (people in spirit). There is so much More Than Meets the Eye in so many people that appear to be cognitively disabled, when in fact, their disability could be a motor planning disability. What if they have been in there all along, hearing and remembering everything their entire lives, but just not able to get what is in their mind into verbal communication? Spelling 2 Communicate moves communication from the small motor movement of speaking to the large motor movement of using the arm to point to letters on a letterboard with the assistance of a communication partner. This book challenges the mainstream view of people with a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, and will empower people to get their nonverbal loved ones “on board.” With the autism rate in America at 1 in 36 and rising, with 40 percent of them considered nonverbal, parents need to know what is new and possible. Through spelled communication, many former nonverbal people with autism are finding their voices and changing their lives and futures. A spelling revolution is underway. 1 One Miscarriage, No Children, Doctor of Oriental Medicine Helping Women with Hopi Wilder - S7 E28 25:05
I was happily going through life devoted to my career as a healer and massage therapist. I then went back to school in my mid-thirties to get my Masters in Oriental Medicine. Suddenly I started feeling the clock ticking, even though I was extremely busy and did not have a partner at the time. I had always been hesitant to bring a child into this world, but did not want to miss out. Five years later, I did end up getting married and carried a baby into the end of the first trimester before I had a miscarriage. I was 42 years old. It was then that I learned for the first time that miscarriages, especially in the first trimester, are extremely common. I connected with many women who suffer this trauma silently. Never-the-less, I was devasted. I started studying everything I could about infertility and how to fix it. That is when I discovered the work of Weston Price, a dentist in the 1930s. His ancestral, nutrient dense diet was an integral part of cultivating a new, more wholistic approach to how I view fertility and women’s health. I ended up leaving my first marriage a year after my miscarriage. I remarried and my second husband and I tried for a while. I was fully into peri-menopause by my mid forties and I knew my body did not want to have a child. We participated in two adoption trainings, including Foster Care. In the end we chose a different path and we both really enjoy being the “fun aunt and uncle” to our nieces and nephews. It takes a village. I consider every illness or seeming mishap as an opportunity to study, learn and then serve my patients from a heart centered perspective. I really enjoy teaching about how to prepare your body for pregnancy as a process similar to building the soil in the garden. Natural fertility treatments are slower, yet much better for a woman’s body and for the baby’s health. Seeing the babies I helped bring into the world at a super market or farmer’s market is a really joyful reward.
