YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines Destroyed by Hurricane
We have this tragic update from the director of YWAM St. Vincent and the Grenadines after Hurricane Beryl passed through the islands last month …
Ben from Mayreau –
Today was rough, challenging, heartbreaking and so much more. You can prepare to go back to your home, campus and village after a hurricane but the reality was worse than the photos show. It looks like a massive bomb went off.
The landscape is different. The trees are gone. Beautiful pieces Mayreau is known for…just gone. Driving through the village is heartbreaking. Stepping foot on the YWAM campus was a punch in the gut. Walking into our home, seeing all the water still in it and seeing almost all of our belongings destroyed by wind and rain…nothing prepares you for this.
Jes’ 1st home at YWAM, our first home together and now KC & Kelsie’s home is destroyed. The roof of Jes & I’s home is worse than we thought but we still have walls to work with whereas other buildings don’t even have those.
The photos don’t do it justice…it’s devastating. The trauma these beautiful people have been through, there are no words. I was greeted with hugs and some smiles but could feel the hurt and loss. Our police chief Owen Issacs not only lost his home but has been working tirelessly and sacrificially to lead the charge. We cannot thank him enough. The team from WeAre Mayreau Inc, we see your hard work and also cannot thank you enough.
Our Mayreau community is strong and we will rebuild. But we can’t do it alone. We are so thankful for different relief supplies that have come in from neighboring communities and nations, yachties, and more. But this isn’t a short term project. We need more help. We need supplies, we need finances and we need volunteers.
Jes is in PA doing what she can to work with our team and organize supplies to be sent. Once I get back to PA we’ll announce our plans for getting volunteers and small teams down here to help with clean up and rebuilding – keep an eye out for that but if you’re already interested please send Jes a message at 717-201-0430.
Please keep praying.
The Lord is with us, always.

The destruction in the photos is dramatic, and the rebuilding that will need to be done, massive. You can check their Facebook page for updates, as well as their web-site, ywamsvg.org, and can also to see how you might be able to help, whether finacially, or maybe even with a team to help rebuild. They really do need the help.
YWAM Chico Fires
Last Month the YWAM location in Chico, California was threatened by a massive forest fire. Thankfully, by the grace of God, the location was spared …
Even though the fire did not burn down the hotel, smoke still did a lot of damage. They need help to clean and restore the 100-year hotel, it’s rooms, lobby, and gathering spaces throughout. They also lost critical infrastructure on the property to the fire. There are other building to restore, and plumbing and cabling needed to keep their ministry running.
They also need help with their fire defences. There is still brush and trees that need to be removed that can easily be fuel for another fire.
While dealing with the immediate issues, they are also assessing their long term needs. For YWAM Chico, it may not only be the rebuilding of their hydro-plant, but, may also be as simple as a new paint job, or replacing a refrigerator ruined due to rotting foods and an electrical fault. As they slowly return to normalcy they continue to update the situation through their web-site, ywamchico.org.
There is also a full video interview about the miracle in Chico, and the ministry that they are doing in California, on the show notes at ywampodcast.com/148.
The interview was by YWAM Virginia, who have been putting out some great stories, teaching, and testimonies.

YWAM Saint Marc Liberty Academy Trade School Graduation
Last month YWAM Saint Marc’s Liberty Academy Trade School graduated 520 students from their Liberty Academy Trade School. 520 people in their city now have a new skill set to better their lives. They had: Electrician, Plumbing, Welding, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Hair Braiding, Dread Locks, Sewing, Computer Science, Makeup, Nail Technician, Backhoe Loader Operator, English, Spanish, Tile Setting, Driver’s Education and Culinary Arts as class options this year.
In 2023 the Liberty Academy Trade School started with 200 students, and this year they graduated 520. To make the academy accessible for as many students as possible, they only charge a low $20 for the entire 4 months. They give God the glory for every single accomplishment because without Him, none of this would have happened.
To find out more about this academy, including plans for the future, you can check out their web-site, ywamstmarchaiti.org.
Satsangs – Fellowship in India
Last month YWAM Organic released a video about fellowship in India.
Satsangs are house churches in India that have a far greater impact among Hindu communities than traditional western style church plants. The result? Hindu’s are far more open to the Gospel than we think.

YWAM Ships Australia
YWAM Ships Australia’s crew was hard at work installing two new generators on the MV YWM PNG, which is currently back in Australia for a refit. A partnership with YWAM Medical Ships Norway played a crucial role in bringing the generators all the way from Norway. (On the video version of this show I received an update from YWAM Medical Ships Australia informing me that the refit of the generators is being conducted in PNG, NOT in Australia as I had reported.)
During the last deployment of the ship from June to July in Port Moresby the crew and volunteers provided a comprehensive range of healthcare services. The current plan to have the ship back on outreach in PNG by October.
The YWAM Ships Dental Team in PNG was donated two new vehicles to support the school dental program, and community engagement initiatives. The donation included a 25-seater bus and an SUV, which will be utilised to transport volunteers across NCD and Central Province.

SBS Testimony for YWAM Osaka
YWAM Osaka recently completed their School of Biblical Studies course. From the stories from their students I pulled this testimony to share with you …
The School of Biblical Studies (SBS) at YWAM Takatsuki is a Japanese/English bilingual 10-month immersive course within Youth with a Mission, University of the Nations. It is designed to teach the students how to study the 66 books of the Bible through an inductive approach – to observe what the text says in the correct context, interpret and then make it applicable today. Students will not only be able to read a book and discover the big picture, but also be able to examine the finer details within each paragraph and verse.
The next course will be running from May 11, 2025- March 19, 2026, and you can find out more on their web-site, www.ywamtakatsuki.org/sbs.
YWAM Heredia Missionary Care Foundations Course
Missionary Care is a vital thing that every YWAM location should be engaging in for the well being of their staff and ministry. According to the Global Member Care Network:
Missionary care is doing whatever it takes, within reason, to insure that our workers feel cared for and supported by their agency and church, that they have the resources they need to work effectively, and to care well for themselves and their family. It is comprehensive – the ongoing preparation, equipping and empowering of missionaries for effective and sustainable life, ministry and work.
(source)
The Missionary Care Foundations is based on the definition of member care as: “The formal and informal efforts to develop, preserve, and restore kingdom workers for effective service.” It is built upon seven areas of support that provide care for missionaries.
During the three-week course, many topics and tools will be presented in each area using a variety of teaching methods, including case studies, demonstrations, practice sessions, and applications interspersed with instruction.
Students of the MCFC are provided with a training manual, “tools,” and a digital library of resources to support them in the fields of service where helpful personnel may not be accessible. All the presenter’s notes and power point presentations are also given to the students for their own review and use in communicating member care concepts.
The next Missionary Care Foundations Course will be running from October 26 – November 16, 2024 in YWAM Heredia, Costa Rica. You can find out more on the YWAM Heredia web-site, ywamheredia.com.
