In this episode, I talk about relationships + the importance of connection. Here's some key takeaways:

1. Humans are wired for connection with other humans beings. We call that relationships.

2. Our earliest relationships with our caretakers (parents, guardians, etc) inform how we "do" relationships, behaviorally

3. We learn early on that relationships can hurt (experienced disconnection), so we adapt behaviorally to avoid/repress/deny (coping mechanisms)

Bottom line is this: We have a patterned way of being in our relationships. When tough days hit, it's 100% necessary to have a map out of the wilderness of our emotional pain. When we practice, we can become better at accepting our emotions as they are (and reality too!).

2. Writing Prompts Help Us Access Our Emotions

When we recall/experience high emotional memories/situations (positive OR negative), the "words" part of our brain literally shuts down. Ever heard someone say, "I can't find the words." It's 100% true! That's why I provide writing prompts to help access the words.
