#36 Why The Very Concept Of Truth Is Impossible Without God
Manage episode 355080195 series 2977453
"What is truth?" This question was asked by Pontius Pilate to Jesus Christ on the night when Jesus was on trial.
Pilate never stuck around for the answer—and his question echoes in our culture today.
Skeptics, atheists, agnostics, and adherents of other religions will say that Christianity is not true. But what if the very concept of truth is impossible without first believing in the Christian worldview? That's what we're talking about today.
Specifically, we’re going to talk about:
• Why it can be difficult to define truth.
• The three Cs of truth.
• The relationship between truth and logic.
• The correspondence between truth and reality.
• Why something that is true must also correspond to the conventions of language.
• Why coherence, correspondence and comprehensibility all presuppose God.
• Atheism's problem with truth.
