Round 1 of the Euroleague season 2023/24 is in the books as Matej and Simon review all the highlights and storylines of the recent matchups.
First, they take you through Thursdays matchups from October 5th starting with Crvena Zvezda Belgrade vs. ASVEL Lyon-Villeurbanne (00:02:35), the highly anticipated game Maccabi Tel Aviv vs. Partizan Belgrade (00:07:42), taking a deep-dive into the matchup FC Barcelona vs. Anadolu Efes Istanbul (00:12:23), talking about the German derby Bayern Munich vs. ALBA Berlin (00:23:05) as well as the great comeback story in Virtus Bologna vs. Zalgiris Kaunas (00:30:42)
After the break they take you through the second half of Round 1 with all the games from Friday October 6th. A tight contest between Fenerbahçe Istanbul vs. Emporio Armani Milano (00:35:20), the great greek derby Panathinaikos Athens vs. Olympiakos Pireus (00:40:16). After that, they move to Spain to discuss Baskonia Vitoria-Gasteiz vs. Real Madrid (00:52:00) and finishing it off with their break down of Valencia Basket vs. AS Monaco (00:57:34). Rounding it up with a sneak preview of Round 2 (01:02:00).
After so much Basketball talk, it is time to switch the field as Matej has some takes on the recent UEFA Champions League Round 2 and what teams are already on the brink of missing the knock-out phase (01:06:38).
Finishing off Episode 3, Simon gives some of his thoughts about the love for European football in Australia as well as having his take on the World Cup 2023 that has been taking place in Australia and New Zealand (01:21:12).
