This episode of Growing Up Chaotic features an in depth look at the devastating effects addiction can have on children with Nicole Sartore-Babuin ofEdgewood Treatment Center in Nanaimo, Canada. These children, according to the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, often suffer from a variety of emotional problems, including anxiety, guilt, embarrasment, lack of trust, confusion, anger and depression. "Additionally, these children stand a one-in-four chance of becoming alcoholics/addicts themselves." Global Post In an effort to help children experiencing family addiction, Nicole Sartore-Babuin pioneered the Bounce Back program which provides a safe, fun environment for children to explore and express their feelings about addiction. Nicole Sartore-Babuin completed her bachelor of Social Work at the University of Victoria in 2000. Since then she has worked with hundreds of individuals and their families while working as both Inpatient and Family Counselor at the Edgewood Treatment Center in Nanaimo, BC Canada. Nicole specializes in working with family members who have been affected by addiction and she has pioneered Edgewood’s 4-Day, children’s program called Bounce Back - which provides a safe, fun environment for children to explore and express their feelings about addiction.
