Both Christians and non-Christians are often caught in the grip of the sin of self-punishment. This struggle, though not always articulated in these terms, is a significant obstacle that can impede our journey towards the Kingdom of God. For Christians, in particular, this sin can pose a serious threat to our growth as Jesus' disciples. Though we accept the Gospel at an intellectual level, it takes time for the profound truth of the Gospel to fully penetrate the depths of our souls.
