First and foremost, Stephanie Thompson is an awesome and brave mumma (and wife). Her long journey to becoming a mum is her greatest achievement. Her ‘never-die’ attitude and resilience to adversity was just not going to let cancer or birth trauma stop her from trying to be the ‘best’ mum she can be. With over 15 years’ experience working as an educator and leader, she knows how important advocacy is for making real change. After completing her degree in education, she worked as a critical responder in Child Protection for a few years before heading into the classrooms of public schools across Sydney for the next decade. Prior to the birth of her babies, she was an education consultant for some of the top private schools across the eastern states of Australia, while also running a small tea business and competing in triathlons. Busy is what she does best. Stephanie lives with her loving husband, two little people and two fat cats on the south coast of New South Wales. She isn’t able to be a teacher, a triathlete or tea business owner anymore. The trauma from giving birth has left her body broken. But, of course, that is not the end of the story. After looking in all the wrong places for her resolve, she discovered writing. Writing is now how she is helping to make way for change in this childbirth space. Stephanie created the ‘Bravemumma’ community and is working hard to advocate for the sisterhood to band together and support one another in what is already a difficult time. Her main aim is to ensure women can feel empowered to make informed decisions about their birth choices – and beyond into motherhood. When she manages to find a spare 32 minutes, she enjoys watching The Letdown, while folding the Mt Washmore of baby clothes with a cup of tea. You can connect with Stephanie on social media here: Website: www.bravemumma.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bravemumma/ The support group on facebok called "Tips & Tricks for Living with POP".…
After experiencing postnatal depression, anxiety and insomnia 6 months after her first baby was born, Regan has utilised her experience and qualifications as a yoga teacher, exercise physiologist, wellness coach and mother with, and now recovered from, PND/A to help other women alleviate anxiety, turn ‘can’t cope’ into contentment, be more present, be able to ‘breathe’ and stream self care into their day, without adding more to the already full plate. Regan holds sacred space for each woman she works with to get out of her head and into her body, speak her intimate truth, and be guided to the answers within her internal wisdom. She uses an intuitive blend of yoga, meditation, breath work, instinctual movement and coaching specific to the woman in front of her to re-weave the tapestry of her life from the inside out. You can connect with Regan and all the amazing work she is doing in the world here: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ReplenishtheMother/…

Maggie The Peninsula mum, is a ball of light and has such a great personality, this podcast was so much fun to be part of all the while talking about such an important issue. I loved chatting to Rachel about her views on support for mums after birthing their babies and it's so wonderful to hear that there are services out there such as the one Rachel provides to new families / mums once their new baby arrives. "I’m Rachel and I love everything to do with pregnancy, birth and parenting. My own first childbirth and postpartum experience was wonderful, even though I was completely under-informed, luck had it that I walked away feeling empowered, confident and in awe of what our bodies can do, and I was thoroughly supported at home in the first few weeks with bubs. Over the following few months, a few friends and family had their first babies too, and none of their experiences were as empowering. I started to get really interested in the current culture around birth and early postpartum, and why so many women are saying they are traumatized by the experience of giving birth and/or completely depleted by early parenting. Four years and another baby later and I’m a juggling my two girls, employment, running my own business, and helping families and in particular mums to feel confident, informed and supported in their pregnancy, birth and early parenting journeys." The book Rachel recommends is by Julia Jones - When a baby is born so is a mother. 1 E9: Talking birth trauma, escaping domestic violence & the truth of mum life as a single parent 24:45
Wow what a life Kate has lived so far, and yet she continues to live in a positive way and spreads her positivity far and wide empowering other women and mums through her work. I knew I wanted Kate on The BLABB Podcast and so glad she said yes! --------------------- "I’m Kate single mumma to my little prince Harry (3) and I am a proud autism mum. I landed in Australia in 2011 with a backpack and a pocket full of money and this is where my journey began. I had 6 years of living in the outback , wild horseback riding, contract mustering and living a life I only dreamed of. Having my little boy changed my life , giving me the strength to escape a very abusive relationship and fleeing from a position I would wish no one to be in, fighting a domestic violence was the best thing I EVER did. Landing in Melbourne I was introduced to a business platform that enabled me to work around my little prince , and become the strong woman I once was, connecting with so many other Mums that had also came from nothing and wanting so desperately to make a life and an income for their family This business has now become more than 1000 women who are building their own dreams Being part of an amazing community of women has been so incredible, and giving my time, heart , and energy to everyone who is part of this makes me a better Woman. Our journey to educate, and create as many other successful women has become a very strong mission, as together we are uniting the industry to build something so exciting I am SO greatful to be part of something striving to see other women succeed. Motherhood is dam hard and we deserve some support ♥️ Much love Kate" --------------------- You can connect with Kate through social media: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/The-Skin-Care-Experience-120407446024726/ The movie Kate recommends is: A Star Is Born - with Lady Gaga --------------------- Birth trauma support: https://www.birthtrauma.org.au/ Domestic Violence support: https://www.lifeline.org.au/get-help/topics/domestic-family-violence…
