How To Stop Cockblocking Your Success, and Start Achieving Your Dreams And Goals

The number one thing that holds you back from achieving huge success and fulfillment in life is… You!! And in this episode were going to deep dive into why we cockblock ourselves from doing what we want and taking action, and how to… I suppose the word is un-cockblock yourself (not sure that name will be featured in any upcoming hypnosis recordings but!!) as I share 5 steps on how to get out of your own way, awaken more courage and start taking aligned action!
The definition of cockblocking (yes I googled this!) : "Prevent someone from succeeding in their attempt to engage in a particular activity".
There's one thing someone else getting in your way, but when you’re doing it to yourself, it’s all the more frustrating.
For most, it often looks like procrastination, perfectionism, overthinking, self-doubt, being your own biggest critic, lack of motivation - and what the biggest driver behind them all is FEAR!
Majority of fears stem from childhood. Did you know that the biggest fear people have is public speaking? A poll done in America shared the results that public speaking was the number #1 fear, and death was #2! This to me means people would prefer to be the one in the coffin, rather than reading the poem or obituary at the front of the church!!!
Why is it we fear judgment and cockblock ourselves? We deep dive into this in todays episode!
It takes courage to do the inner work, but my gosh is it worth it. Here are 5 steps you can take to help you get out of your own way, nurture your inner child and start taking the aligned steps towards success and your goals.
1. Get clarity - what is it you want to do, be or have? Write it down and know what the outcome would be - how would you know it’s achieved? What would that feel like?
2. Number 2 - get connected to the feeling you will have as you work towards the goal or intention, and how you’ll feel when its achieved. We’re not looking for “happy” or great! I mean how will you REALLY feel inside? Who will you text first ? How will you celebrate? What will you be thinking and feeling when your head hits the pillow after achieving what you set out to?
3. Write a letter to your 8 year old self sharing all the reasons why you’re excited to be going on this journey and achieving these goals. Let your inner child know it’s coming on this journey with you, it’s safe and how you will protect her/him/them. Your inner child is closely connected to your nervous system, reaffirming safety and exciting is a game changer in getting out of your own way.
4. Take the goal - and break it down into step by step - what’s the first 3 steps you need to take? Forget the rest and do those. Evidence you’re safe, celebrate, go again.
5. Feel the fear and do it anyway - Brené Brown says "True courage comes when we decide to take a risk without knowing the outcome. It means being showing up and letting yourself be seen, despite the risk. When you show up in this way, you open yourself up joy and connection, but you can only do it by accepting that there could be pain".
