A freeform first dialogue I was inspired to hold with O.G Rose and Tim Kubik. Both are friend's and fellow travellers in the liminal web with a rich insight into where education has become broken and what educational futures we might imagine. We touch on: ~The relation of education and capital ~The historical dependence of leisure on exploitation ~The 'trivia' test mentality of modern education ~An education that allows genius misfits ~Zoom and educational entreprenuership O.G. Rose is the pen name of philosopher and writer duo Daniel and Michelle Garner. Daniel recently authored 'Belonging Again pt.1' as part of a larger project diagnosing the breakdown of belonging and the multi-layered decay of the meta-crisis. His work around philosophical community and regular online gatherings offer a new possibility for education beyond the academy. https://www.youtube.com/@O.G.Rose.Michelle.and.Daniel Educational facilitator and speaker, Dr. Tim Kubik has worked on a variety of initiatives designed to empower teachers and students to engage with their ever-changing world, including The Asia Society International Studies Schools Network, Buck Institute for Education, and now in partnership at Project ARC. He holds a Ph.D. from The Johns Hopkins University, but it’s the authentic work he’s done with over 5,000 teachers in 18 states and four countries around the world that shapes the approach to authentic project-learning experiences that he shares in "Unprepared for What We Learned: Six Action Research Exercises that Challenge the Ends We Imagine for Education (Peter Lang, 2018)" Contact Dr. Tim Kubik: Project ARC, PBC Tim@proj-arc.com www.proj-arc.com @Kubikhan on Twitter
