In today’s episode it is 1872 New haven Connecticut, and concerns have been raised from the neighbours regarding the tragic quick death of Lydia’s third husband. The body is duly exhumed and found to be riddled with arsenic.
It occurs to authorities that all of Lydia’s husbands had died unexpectedly. And all of her children. And several stepchildren.
A series of exhumations and post mortems takes place -all reaching the same conclusion.
We take a look at the serial killer the press dubbed the Modern Borgia – her background, the crimes, the outcome and the postscript. The fascinating Victorian Borgia serial killer of her day, Lydia Sherman, is today’s episode of Wicked Wednesdays.
