In this episode of MY DATA IS BETTER THAN YOURS the host of the podcast, Jonas Rashedi, is talking to Brian Walker, Chief Strategy Officer at Bloomreach. Brian is based in the digital marketing world for a long time. He had different roles in the industry, for example at Amazon, Expedia, Accenture and SAP. Now he is CSO at Bloomreach, a Commerce Experience Cloud also owning a Customer Data Platform and supporting companies optimizing their product discovery process, the content solutions and the customer engagement. Jonas and Brian are talking a lot about personalization and data privacy. They explain the goal that e-commerce should have. For that, we need to make a trip down memory lane: In small cities there are “Tante Emma-Läden”, little shops everybody knew and loved shopping at. The salespersons there know you and know exactly what you want. Why does this not work in e-commerce? Brian feels certain: The customers are smarter than we are. So we need to find the right technology to please them. Brian and Jonas are also talking about the differences between the US, the European and the Asian Market and they conclude: You need to have the right strategy! For that, you need to ask the right questions and find well-trained people to support you.
