Moms of complex kids tend to have support groups, and plenty of podcasts and publications aimed at helping them navigate this journey. But what support and help is out there for the dads? Join us as we sit down with John Fela, Ministry Relations Manager at Joni and Friends Chicago, to hear his heartfelt story of navigating fatherhood with a son diagnosed with autism. John's journey to find a community that could support, mentor, and help hold him up as a father is one many men face when they learn their child has complexities.
Drawing from his own experiences, John weaves the story of his journey to find his village and his support. John also comes with a wealth of knowledge for other dads of complex kids, highlighting groups like Special Fathers Network and Rising Above Ministries, which offer mentorship and community. Dads need to reach out and finding connection just as much as moms. No one should have to walk this path alone.
John also shares how his faith has helped him naviagte this journey. A faith that has helped him find strength and assurance along a long and winding road.
