On a special holiday week edition of the show for July 4th, we still have tons to go over from the Boston Celtics up for sale, to Warner Bros./Turner gathering up multiple rights deals across multiple sports in anticiapation of losing the NBA, the NFL's "Sunday Ticket Mess" and we relieve an incredible, wacky, 9 hour long July 4th MLB game bleeding into the pre-dawn hours of July 5th nearly 40 years ago. And, we discuss it all on the latest "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast."
Host T.J. Rives is back and is talking numerous sports business/media subjects with Sportico.com's Kurt Badenhausen. Kurt has tremendous insight on the subjects above and also has written about the surging popularity and increased ratings/attendance of the WNBA and what it all means for Sportico's "franchise worth valuations" that they created? There's excellent back and forth on all subjects with Kurt's insight here.
Then, T.J. relieves the craziest July 4th MLB game ever played, as the Atlanta Braves hosted the New York Mets in 1985 and after rain delays and wild scoring/drama, the game played on, and on and on. Hear his interivew with a good friend of his that was in attendance at Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium that night and gives great first person remembrances. Plus, re-live one of the great home run calls in Braves history as THE John Sterling called weak hitting pitcher Rick Camp's dramatic home run in the 18th inning to keep the game alive!
It's all part of the "Last Word on Sports Media Podcast." Happy 4th of July and make sure to follow/subscribe on Apple/Spreaker/Spotify, etc.!
