In this message, Duane Sheriff teaches the purpose of the law and its relationship to condemnation and the grace we have in Christ. Referencing Romans 8:1-2 states there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Duane shares a personal testimony of once living under guilt and discouragement, believing the lies that he was unworthy before he learned that God does not condemn those who are in His Son.

There is a difference between condemnation, often stemming from the law and resulting in feeling distant from God, and conviction, which is God's way of gently guiding believers back to righteousness. The law was given to make sin known, not to reveal God's nature.

Romans 3:19-20 states that the purpose of the law is to make everyone guilty before God and give us knowledge of sin. This explanation helps believers acknowledge their need for a Savior and guards against self-righteousness.

There are four sources of condemnation, but the primary source is the law. The purpose of the law is not to make people righteous but to reveal sin and lead people to Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:7-11 describes the old covenant as a "ministry of death" and "condemnation," while the new covenant in Christ is a "ministry of the Spirit" and "righteousness." Christians are called to live in peace and righteousness through faith in Jesus rather than struggling under condemnation.
