Helene has caused a major flooding disaster in the Carolinas.

Communities remain cut off from the outside world with limited-to-no power or communication. Others have had to flee their homes to escape the rising flood waters brought on by Helene.

Across both North Carolina and South Carolina, a million and a half Carolinians remain without power.

Tonight, a special edition of the Carolina Weather Group with the latest recovery efforts happening in the Carolinas. A special look at the hardest hit areas, including in the western North Carolina mountains, where more than two feet of rain fell.
