Pregnancy is a Struggly Sweet Thing | Rashida, Part 1
Manage episode 443173357 series 3527909
Join us in Part 1 of our conversation with Rashida Quinn, where we dive into her two pregnancies and birth stories of her daughters. Rashida is the program director of the Alliance of Black Nurses Association of Oregon, also known as ABNAO. Rashida is also the host of two podcasts: the most recent being Black Care Matters and another podcast called Dark Matters, which are both linked below.
Rashida touches on the delicate balance of the challenges and joys of pregnancy and birth, her successful IUI experiences, and the importance of having a supportive team of Black women alongside her partner for her births.
We also discuss how systemic racism affects every aspect of life and how it especially contributes to the high maternal mortality rates for Black women.
Part 2 with Rashida will be out on October 16th where we will hear about her experience in postpartum. Thanks for listening!
