With the impending sale of his company, Richie is at a crossroads. Although he's about to offload his debts and responsibilities onto some unsuspecting Germans, Richie still has real passion for the biz, and a jonesing to discover new artists. Adapted from the novel by Tom Perrotta, The Leftovers (2014) is a series about loss and grief and cults and Justin Theroux being the messiah, maybe. Although the premiere (and first season) is a bit of a downer, the series as a whole is an absolutely riveting puzzle box of a mystery. (18:32 - 1:45:37) ... Dustin Hoffman is out of prison and looking for revenge against those who done him wrong, and his machinations appear to manifest in the form of a constipated race horse. (Don't ask how; we're not sure.) Meanwhile, the greasy degenerates at the track win big in their Pick Six, which will no doubt lead to much drama in subsequent episodes. Three months after, and the citizens of Treme (2010) are still rebuilding their lives. Antoine Baptiste is a musician adverse to paying cab fares. LaDonna, Baptiste's ex-wife, throws shade on the neighborhood brass band section whilst searching for her lost brother. Toni Bernette is a lawyer/crusader who loves bread pudding. Her husband, Creighton (really?), bickers with a British reporter. Albert Lambreaux wears all the feathers as he's got fire can't put it out make lew-lew dewey-dewey bottie bomb-bow. Don't ask restaurateur Janette Desautel about her house, or her poor taste in men, which includes professional music snob Davis McAlary. We're down in the hot, sticky swamplands of Bon Temps, Louisiana with Nuchtchas of The Nutty Bites Podcast to discuss True Blood (2008), the sexy vampire soap that HBO apparently forgot about when they announced they were eliminating late night adult programming from its services. Although it's generously considered a drama, True Blood is actually softcore porn, but with vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters, fairies, demons, demigods, leprechauns (are there leprechauns? there's probably leprechauns) plus a smattering of Cajuns who we learn are Mel's cousins.
