[June 2nd 2025] Tonight on the Mormon Newscast, we lead with a headline that’s rocking Cougar Nation—BYU starting quarterback Jake Retzlaff has been charged with a civil sexual assault lawsuit. The accusations include rape, strangulation, and biting, with the alleged victim claiming police discouraged her from pressing charges. As the university balances Title IX compliance, public perception, and its own Honor Code, we dive into the legal fallout, institutional response, and how this case could impact the season and the LDS Church’s as well as BYU’s reputation. Out Other Stories: – Utah Judge Under Fire: GOP lawmakers are demanding the resignation of a Utah judge who let a child sex offender off without prison time. Critics are calling it a miscarriage of justice; defenders say context matters. Our legal expert breaks it down. – Fairview Temple Update: Tensions escalate in Texas as the LDS Church pushes its controversial temple height proposal. We’ve got the latest from Fairview’s zoning frontlines. – Holy Threads Go Viral: Yes, it’s real. The New York Times covers the rise of “tank top garments” in Mormon culture—and not everyone is keeping cool. – Confirmed: Joseph Smith Practiced Polygamy: A prominent LDS historian just shattered a lingering apologetic myth. We explore what this admission means for faithful members still hanging on to unlikely narratives. – An Open Plea to the Amish: Calls for an end to shunning in Amish communities, raising compelling ethical questions about religious ostracism and psychological harm. Join us for a night of bold reporting, no pulled punches, and a few smoldering headlines that might just set your new tank top garments ablaze. In this episode of Rameumptom Ruminations , we explore doubt not as the enemy of faith, but as a sacred doorway to deeper, more honest spirituality. Drawing from literature, Movies, and lived experience, we examine how high-demand religions like Mormonism often idealize certainty, and how this can obscure the value of questions and struggle. Through the lens of epistemic humility and the metaphor of the unreliable narrator, we reframe doubt as a truth-telling discipline rather than a defect. Listeners are invited to see doubt not as the end of belief, but as the beginning of chosen, compassionate, and resilient faith. Please consider becoming a monthly recurring donor to the podcast. Every Mormon alive can tell you without hesitation about the Godhead; how there are three members in the Godhead, the Father and the Son, with bodies of flesh and bones, and the Holy Ghost with a body of spirit. What most Mormons are not aware of, however, is that Joseph Smith taught a radically different doctrine of the Godhead before this version. And on top of that, Joseph Smith taught that you had to believe in the earlier version of the Godhead in order to be saved. Which would seem to mean that any Mormon who believes in a different version of the Godhead will not be saved, or other words, will be damned. This is the story of the Lectures on Faith. And this is the story of why it is all Mormons go to hell! The post All Mormons Go To Hell: RFM: 399 appeared first on Mormon Discussions Podcasts - Full Lineup .…

In this powerful episode, we explore the fascinating—and at times unsettling—truth that your body can carry pain, anxiety, and illness long after the danger is gone. Through bizarre medical stories and neuroscience-backed insights, we expose how the brain can misfire protective signals, trapping us in cycles of suffering with no clear physical cause. But we don’t stop at science. We take a hard look at how religious trauma—especially from high-demand systems like Mormonism—can sabotage the nervous system, teaching us to fear our own instincts and stay hypervigilant in the name of obedience. From chronic pain to panic attacks to unexplained sickness, we reveal how trauma—spiritual or otherwise—can become embedded in the body… and how healing is possible. If you’ve ever wondered why you still feel unsafe, even when you’re “out,” or why your symptoms don’t match your diagnosis—this is the episode that connects the dots. In this eye-opening episode of Mormonism Live, hosts Bill Reel and Radio Free Mormon are joined by author and theologian Charley Harrell to explore his powerful Dialogue Journal article, “John Taylor on the ‘Dark Ages’.” Together, they take a deep dive into how third LDS Church President John Taylor challenged the traditional narrative of the Great Apostasy—offering a radically different view of the Middle Ages, where spiritual gifts and divine revelation still thrived. Was there really a total apostasy after the death of Christ, or have we misunderstood what “spiritual darkness” means? Harrell examines Taylor’s 1873 discourse, revealing that the LDS prophet acknowledged divine influence and religious truth outside of Mormonism—even among Christian mystics and thinkers during the so-called “Dark Ages.” This conversation reframes the LDS Church’s apostasy narrative, opens the door to interfaith spirituality, and raises critical questions about revelation, church authority, and doctrinal evolution. Whether you’re a believing Latter-day Saint, a post-Mormon, or simply curious about Christian history and theology, this episode offers compelling insights that challenge conventional Mormon teachings.
