Ido Aharoni & Ben Maoz: Advanced tools for improving human physiology

Our guest in this new episode is Prof. Ben Maoz, who is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the Sagol School Of Neuroscience at TAU.Prof. Maoz shares with our host, Ido Aharoni, an overview of his lab's different expertise, which mainly focuses in developing advanced tools for improving human physiology. Overall, Prof. Maoz will present three areas of expertise:

1. Advanced tools to study human physiology – where he uses tissue engineering to create advanced tools that better mimic human physiology (e.g. Organs-on-a-Chip, organoids, iPSC).
2. Integrated electronics – where he develops implantable electronics that enable to restore tactile sensation.
3. Biohybrid robots – where he integrates the sensory systems of insects with robotic platforms to enable super-sensitive identification of smell using biological sensors.

In the talk, we will demonstrate how these tools can be used to push forward the study of human physiology.
