On Friday, August 23rd, I had the honor of welcoming an entertainment powerhouse who I believe will be remembered as a modern Hip-Hop icon: Kelda Williams, also known as Keldamuzik aka Diva. Kelda is an American music artist, actress, TV host, and producer who has been breaking barriers and pushing the culture forward. Keldamuzik is truly one of the hardest working entertainment entrepreneurs we’ve come across. From launching her music career in the 2000s as both an artist and producer, to branching out into acting, fashion, advocacy for black female artists, and even hosting her own podcast, she’s constantly raising the bar in everything she does. And she does it all with authenticity and a unique style. In our conversation, we explored her early experiences as one of the few female artists entering the hip-hop scene at the time, and how she navigated those challenges. We also dove into how R&B/POP/Hip-Hop artists today are using EDM/Country to build larger audiences—like how Rihanna and Beyoncé successfully did so by diversifying their sound. The key takeaway for independent artists? Don’t get too comfortable—explore different lanes to grow your career. We also discussed the impact of AI music on the industry, both now and in the future, and whether it risks overshadowing the authentic storytelling that makes music meaningful. A major highlight of the discussion was how hip-hop culture has evolved from the 2000s to 2024. Back then, it was all about real stories and raw truth, whereas today, it feels more like image and “sexy” aesthetics are selling the music instead of the music itself. This deep dive into trends explored the balance between staying relevant and staying true to yourself as an artist. This episode is packed with insights on navigating the ever-changing music industry while staying authentic.
