S2E13 | Yellow Submarine Cafe
Manage episode 297929932 series 2890587
In this episode, Anna is joined by Sophie from the Yellow Submarine Cafe, a fantastic cafe co-staffed by trainees with learning difficulties, and she talks about her journey, the amazing work done by the Yellow Submarine Cafe, and the importance of community.
Often rated #1 for coffee and tea in Oxford by TripAdvisor, 70,000 customers each year visit the Yellow Submarine cafés because of the quality of the coffee & food. It just ‘so happens’ that they may leave with a different perception of ‘disability’ too: their two social enterprise cafés are co-staffed by trainees with learning disabilities – Yellow Submarine believes people with learning disabilities and Autism deserve to live life to the full.
They serve delicious ‘Life Changing Bakes’ made on site by trainees, as well as fresh sandwiches, toasties, soup and salads – and of course great coffee and tea. Handily situated on Park End Street, between Oxford’s train station and the city centre, and also in Witney’s leisure centre, why not drop in and sample for yourself? They also offer excellent corporate catering, and a new online shop, ordering and delivery service. If you can’t visit them in person, take a look at the website.
