Abel Macias is a long-time friend from our days in undergrad at San Diego State University. We grew up in the same neighborhood of East San Diego (nice people call it "City Heights") but we wouldn't cross paths until the mid 90s at SDSU. We start by discussing his experience in education at Horace Mann Junior and Crawford High, and then how his path to being a professor was anything but linear. He currently teaches Chicano and Chicana Studies at San Diego City Community College and San Diego State University. We also also discuss his passion for skating and how that lead to him launching a skate brand, Cultura y Skate.
