Many children of immigrant parents often feel more stress and worry than their friends because of family expectations.

From a young age, they feel like they have to pay back their parents for all their hard work and sacrifices. This can cause feelings of being overwhelmed, constantly putting others first, and having difficult relationships with family.

A lot of second-generation adults think they have to carry this burden by themselves because they feel it’s their responsibility. But sometimes, these expectations might not even match what they really want for their own lives.

Figuring out how to follow your own dreams while respecting your family’s wishes can feel like a hard thing to do. But what if it doesn’t have to be that way? Are you living the life you truly want, or the one others expect from you?

In this episode, founder of Unshaken Gens™ Allison Ly, explains how changing the way you think and setting boundaries can help you create better, more balanced relationships while staying true to yourself and your family.
