×Yes, I’m still talking about politics because I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but everything in our lives is impacted by politics and it kinda feels like the world is burning down around us. But therein lies the opportunity—just because the government is crashing and burning, doesn’t mean we, the people are. The current system cannot stand, which means something new is on the horizon, something we all have the opportunity to create. So, what’s next? That’s up to you. Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. I'm your host, Dr. Shanté Cofield, aka The Movement Maestro, and I’m stoked to have you here. I hope this podcast inspires you to make moves and do the thing. Action is the answer. This shit just keeps getting crazier every day, and I don’t need to be any more specific, and you’ll already know what I’m talking about. Sometimes I get asked whether or not you should be sharing about politics on social media, and I understand why some people might be hesitant to do so. While there’s nothing you absolutely have to do in life, there are some things I think you should be doing, and this is one of them. Like it or not, all of our lives are political, and at the core of so many of the issues we’re facing is forced silence. Having an audience (of any size!) is a privilege and it is powerful. I think we should be using our privilege, our power, and our platforms to help. In This Episode You'll Hear: Defense through offense Not an obligation, an opportunity Nothing beats just saying the thing Why people don’t share Use your power to help people Your existence is political Whose comfort are you prioritizing? January lasted approximately eleventy-billion years, and it got me thinking. All of this (imagine me gesturing wildly to our lives and the state of the world right now) is a marathon, not a sprint. Life isn’t magically going to get better for us, so if we want to keep going—and we need to!—then it’s more important than ever to pause, to page ourselves, to view the world with curiosity, and to have compassion for ourselves and others. “I told you so,” feels good, but it’s not going to make shit better. That’s up to us. In This Episode You'll Hear: It’s a marathon, not a sprint We have to pace our consumption There’s a time to fight, and there’s a time for compassion We need more nuance Get off the internet and into your community What does “I told you so” get us? For so many, it would be a dream come true to just be paid to create something that we love. We’ve got to make money to live in this world, so if we want to make money from creating, then we have to professionalize what we do—and not in the boring, traditional, stick-up-your-ass way, but in owning everything you do so that if and when things go sideways, you’re protected. Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. Social media has connected us to more people and more information than we’ve ever had, which means that every day, there’s some new tragedy that we all find out about and it tears people apart. We were never built to be worrying about everything in the world, every moment of the day, but so many of us feel the pressure to give a shit about all the things. It’s not a good idea to spread yourself so thin with worry that you can’t live your own life. So who—of all the millions suffering in the world—should you care about? Let’s chat. Welcome to Maestro on the Mic, a podcast that helps online business owners find their passion, generate more profit, and build a life that they love. There’s this pervasive idea that as you get older, you’ll have no more fucks left to give, but I’ve never had many to begin with. Our time on this earth is already so limited, why wait to give less fucks? Why give any in the first place? Why wait to be happy? You can give all the fucks in the world if you want, but as for me—I’ll keep on not caring. Let’s chat. It’s a new year—is it time for a new you? There’s never any shortage of advice given during the month of January, but before you run and implement everything that everyone tells you to do, there are a few questions I think you should ask to get a little more discerning on what kind of advice you take and who you’re taking it from. There’s plenty of good shit out there, but there’s just as much bullshit. Let’s chat. For the past 5 years, I’ve been choosing a word to focus on that guides me through the calendar year. I’m not one for strict goal setting, but I love having an action-oriented word that I can use to direct my decisions and ensure that I’m always moving in the direction I want to be going. There are a million different ways to come up with your word, but the most important question we should be asking ourselves is, “how do I want to feel in 2025?” Let’s chat. We’ve made it to the end of 2024, which makes now the perfect time to plan for 2025. I like to plan out the big parts of the year first (which I spoke about on Monday’s episode) and then I get in to planning how I want my weeks to look. I’m a big fan of batching my tasks, especially by energy output, and while this episode was originally recorded almost two years ago, my days largely look the same. I’m a creature of habit, and I like my life that way. Let’s chat. (This episode is a re-run. Original release date was January 26, 2023.) You don’t need my permission, but I’ll give it to you anyways: you’re allowed to run your business however the hell you want. Happiness is both a practice and a choice. Once upon a time I was asked what I do to avoid bad days and ultimately, it boils down to the fact that I make choices that allow for myself to see and experience the things that bring joy as much as possible. If something goes wrong in one place, I can always find what I’m looking for in another. We know that for financial stability, we need to diversify our investment portfolio, so why not diversify your joy portfolio while you’re at it? Let’s chat. (This episode is a re-run.
