Research has shown that high-energy visible light boosts alertness, helps memory and cognitive function and elevates mood.” Remember blue light messes with sleep and the ability to produce melatonin. No, that does not suggest taking melatonin. If you have enough serotonin you can make all the melatonin you need. Sometimes the lack of sleep can be easily rectified by staying away from blue light sources two the three hours before bedtime. Sometimes depression and feeling down can be mitigated by being outside or having blue light therapy.
