We’re back … with less of our own agenda.
In our first episode of this year (hello April) we reflect on our podcast approach, how it was not quite what we intended, and how that can be somewhat similar to clinical practice.

We explore:

* Wanting to deliver value to listeners by starting a podcast based around free flowing discussion, yet noticing that going into the discussion with preformed ideas and expectations limited our dialogue.

* How preformed ideas can be quite common in clinical practice and how that influences the therapeutic relationship.

* How we figured out that we weren’t being completely open to each other which influenced where the discussion did and didn’t go.

* The irony that lived in the feedback from listeners - what people resonated with most were the moments where we let go of the key points we had written down in front of us.

* By focusing on being present and responsive to each other, we realised we were truly being ourselves and talking about the change we want to see in clinical practice.

So, in the spirit of self-reflection and growth, we have evolved our approach.

Rather than approaching the discussion with a specific idea, we are going to share our reflections and explore our subjective experiences of clinical practice. Our intention is to focus on the relational aspects of the clinical encounter, and to explore what this means to each of us.

And most importantly, by sharing this together, we can create the change we are keen to see, together.
