The power of fiber that is in your food. The food that is actually real, and full of nutrients: macro, micro and magical 🥕. The food that - in my Professional and personal opinion, and according to Nutrition Facts - we are meant to eat. For health, longevity, energy and high mood. For HIGH VIBE, like my Podcast. Yes, to have and enjoy the natural high vibe that comes from my holistic TRIPLE M method: Mindset, Movement and Microbiota. That is, practice the perfect Fit Movement for you, manage your Mind in the most intelligent way, as well as have your optimal gut health, nourishing your Intestinal Microbiota. Because 90-95% of your SEROTONIN is produced in your gut, essentially by your friendly bacteria or gut microbes in general, that make up your gastrointestinal (GI) MICROBIOTA.* So, if we feed them right, then we will produce more serotonin, which basically makes us feel good. And conversely, if we don't eat fiber, we won't feel good, because there won't be much serotonin "to cheer us up". ... Let alone the constipation, and all the health complications that come from not eating enough fiber... Simple, yet so overlooked in all the recommendations out there. Wait, what? Our mental state or mood depends on our gut bacteria? Does our gut health determine our mental health? Well, as a scientist & avid researcher, I am ABSolutely fascinated by this subject - I have gone through tons of research papers - and it can be quite complicated. But for practical purposes, let's just know that we have a gut-brain axis, or gut MICROBIOTA-BRAIN axis, which is a bi-directional communication network that goes beyond neuroscience with our nervous system; because it also affects our endocrine and immune systems. I thought that we produced the neurotransmitters (hormones) in our head space, right? Well, it turns out that we literally have a second brain 🧠 , which is located in our intestinal microbiota, that thrives on fibers, the fermentable and non-fermentable ones. So it makes ABS-olute sense (and science) that the better we feed it, the greater the size and quality of our bacteria population or microbiota. And that the more well-fed our trillions (preferably more, towards 100) beneficial microbes, the more serotonin or feel-good chemical we get! So what do we eat for our best mood and well-being? Whole food, with its natural, inherent fiber. Sweet potatoes, beans, brown rice, oatmeal, lentils, garbanzos (chickpeas), pulses in general, antioxidant fruits like berries, vegetables, nuts, seeds... Practically what has sustained humanity for our survival, and can nourish us for our health and longevity. Not the refined carbohydrates that we know are not really good for us. And absolutely not the dead animals nor products of what is not kind... Good foods are PLANT FOODS that are picked with kindness, not its opposite. And you know that is why I am vegan, and that you could go vegan, too. Even if you do it once a week - let's say, this upcoming Meatless Monday - you can make a great difference in your health, and save our animals and planet. And remember, dietary FIBER is exclusively present in the PLANT KINGDOM. And, yes, they'll try to convince you otherwise, but I still haven't found any real scientific evidence for anything better than a PLANT BASED DIET for your MICROBIOTA. Which feeds on FIBER (PREBIOTICS) in order to sustain itself (YOUR NATURAL PROBIOTICS). It is simple, despite the information confusion. So by optimizing your Gut Microbiota, you get your full SEROTONIN, which in turn helps you feel naturally sunny or cheerful. And I want to help you get there, one step at a time.
