In this episode we revisit the interview with hardcore/post-hardcore legend Ian MacKaye (Ep. 3) and introduce a new context into the discussion of authenticity and "realness" in hardcore - the shift in spirituality and religiosity in 17th and 18th century England and the United States. We pivot away from a discussion of authenticity in terms of exposing truth or "feeling real" toward a discussion of an authenticity of "mystery," including a snippet from a recent interview with Kristoffer Rygg of Norwegian experimental band Ulver.
