The psychology of success begins with this question: Who do I have to become to have what they have? We each know someone successful in business or accomplished in a particular skill. It’s easy to think you could never achieve what they have. But consider this: instead of responding in jealousy or defeat, focus on what you could do to attain that level of success.
This perspective was a game-changer in my life and business. I had to focus on what it would take to get to that place of success. Listen to this episode where I talk about the need for a growth mindset. It will change your life and business.
How to use the psychology of success to tap into your superpowerA growth mindset is what’s needed to attain success. Some of the most wealthy people have the mindset that change is attainable. You can have the same mindset. Be certain that you can develop the skills you need to get to where you want to be. Find out how environment is key in making you rise to a level of greatness. You can’t simply rely on willpower alone. Tap into your superpower - adaptability. We as humans are the most adaptive creatures on the planet. Listen to this episode to learn how this superpower helps you rise to greatness and achieve things you never thought possible.
Take deliberate steps - create an environment that forces greatnessThere are tactical things you can do to create an environment that forces greatness. I have to remind myself of these regularly. The first step is what I call elimination - getting rid of distractions. Think about it this way: The average CEO reads one book a week. I read two per week. Maybe you think you don’t have time to read. But if I asked how much time you spend on social media, your phone or TV, you’d see where your time is going. Instead of relying on willpower to turn off the TV, simply eliminate it.
This strategy of elimination goes hand in hand with making a huge investment. Learn how to invest in yourself. I’ve done it and have seen great results. Find out how big investments force you to become a better person.
Wake up your competitive spiritAnother deliberate step you can take is to get competitive. Think of people you see as role models in your life - in business or other areas. We all need examples and it’s always good to learn from others. But go beyond that. Observe what they do and learn how to do it better. See them as your competitors. As you continue to improve on what they’re doing, you’ll get ahead of the game. Wake up that competitive spirit and it will become a huge asset in your business.
Find the secret of ritual and routineAnother asset may be something that goes against your grain. No one likes to be told what to do, but the truth is that structure breeds freedom. If your goal is to succeed in life, the only way to get there is through a routine. It may sound uncanny - but the more structure you have, the more free you become. Listen to this episode to hear some of the rituals I’ve built. These not only give me more freedom in the day-to-day, but they also help me function in peak performance. Find out why these rituals and routines are more essential than mere willpower.
