Big Idea of the Message: Esther is called upon to risk her life for the sake of her people. She is ultimately successful at averting the planned annihilation of her people, and God’s purposes are worked out through her actions.
Application Point: God is with us whenever we take our own risks by living in faithfulness to Christ and his commands.
Discussion Questions:
⦁ What is your first reaction to this week’s reading and message?
⦁ “And who knows whether you have not come to the kingdom for such a time as this?” asks Mordecai (3:14). When have you found yourself in the right place at the right time to serve God?
⦁ Consider Esther’s bravery. What motivates her? What motivates you to be brave?
⦁ Consider too Mordecai’s role in provoking Esther to action. Have you ever found yourself in the position of needing to motivate a person of influence to act on your behalf? What was it like?
⦁ The entire book of Esther is full of seemingly unrelated events that come together to bring about God’s plans. Many people of faith can describe how events came together in such a way that they knew God’s hand was at work. Describe a time when you may have experienced God’s hand at work in your lives.
