"Now these are the last words of David. David the son of Jesse declares, the man raised up on high, the anointed of the God of Jacob, and the sweet psalmist of Israel, declares: 'The Spirit of the Lord spoke through me; His word was on my tongue.'” 2 Samuel 23:1-2
David’s life is a powerful testimony of what it means to be exalted by God. From humble beginnings as a shepherd boy to being anointed king over Israel, his journey underscores that divine exaltation is rooted in God’s grace, not human effort. David did not exalt himself; rather, God lifted him up because of his heart for God, his obedience, and his willingness to surrender to God’s will.
God exalted David not for personal fame but for His divine purpose—to establish His covenant and reveal His glory through David’s lineage. In the same way, God’s exaltation in our lives is never about us; it’s about His kingdom, His mission, and His name being glorified.
Prayer:
Lord, thank You for Your faithfulness in lifting up the humble and exalting those who seek Your heart. Teach us to walk in humility, to rely on Your Spirit, and to wait for Your perfect timing. May our lives, like David’s, bring You glory and fulfill Your divine purpose. Exalt us, not for our sake, but for the sake of Your kingdom and the advancement of Your name. Amen.
