The Green History Podcast continues its weekly audio adventures into Islamic history. In the third episode of its first season we take the listener back to 1902 to venture into the Najd region where Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud is pioneering and socialising an entire population of desert Bedouins as part of his social engineering project to create a new military pillar that will support and strengthen his ambition to conquer and rule over the Hijaz. The emergence of this new group from the desert training camps (Hujjar) marks the birth of Abdul Aziz Ibn Saud's 'Ikhwan' (The Brethren) movement. With their complicity he will revolutionise Arabia and usher it into a new historic era however what the future has in store for the Ikhwan will take everyone by surprise. This audio series is scripted and narrated for dramatic effect however the dates, events and personalities correspond with real historical information.
