The trucking industry has always been run like an indentured servant industry. You work 70 to 80 hours a week but are not paid for the total amount of time you work, you only get paid when your wheels are moving. If you are stuck in traffic or in bad weather, that is your problem, not your company's. This is, of course, because the trucking industry and much of the transportation industry, are exempt from Federal and State labor laws. You also have to worry about finding parking for your truck, because once the clock runs out for the week, you have to pull over and sit where you are for the next 10 hours or more. And more and more towns are passing ordinances banning trucks from parking on streets or on the side of the highway or entrance/exit ramps. It's time for a change - treat workers fairly and pay them for the time they work.
