This cultural trope has been perpetuated in media and popular culture, portraying black women as resilient and unbreakable. However, as much as it is a compliment, it has become a burden. The expectation to be strong at all times can be exhausting and detrimental to our mental health. In this article, I will explore the myths surrounding the "strong black woman" archetype, the burden it creates, and ways to overcome societal expectations.
