Sermon: How to Process Pain

Scripture: John 11:32-34 NIV

”When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, “Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died.” When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. “Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied.

INTRODUCED: Have you ever experienced the drain of pain?

How to process pain:

  1. Connect or Reconnect with Jesus

When Mary reached the place where Jesus and saw him, she fell at his feet… Vs. 32a

How?

A. Prayer and meditation

B. Engage God through reading the Bible

C. Participate in a community of believers

  1. Be Authentic with Jesus

Lord, if you had been here, may brother would not have died. Vs. 32b

  1. Take Jesus to the Place of Pain

“Where have you laid him?” He asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Vs. 34

CONCLUSION: Today, you can trust Jesus with the pain that has become a mental drain.
