The fact is we all bloom when we are admired. Also, there is something good or beautiful to be admired in every sane person. I have observed that people generally are a little bit reserved in pouring adulation on one another. Some people would rather gossip and say bad things about someone they should be admiring. Is it an African thing? Or perhaps, it is a Nigerian thing. I think people generally fear that the one to whom a compliment is paid may develop a big head, so to say. Or this manner of behaviour may reflect a deeper insecurity you feel within yourself, that arises because you don’t feel good within you, consequently you cannot feel good for another person or perhaps, you are afraid to celebrate your uniqueness as a person, naturally, if you cannot celebrate yourself, it might be difficult to celebrate another
