ALTBAYS Table Talk 222 – Pauline and Stan Stewart (The Informer)

Welcome to the Altbays Table Talk (Feat. Ross Liggins and Leo Magri)

Pauline and Stan are the owners of Mercury Bay's newspaper, The Informer.

Pauline hails from Queensland, born amidst the stunning Glasshouse Mountains. She pursued studies in communications, history, and theology at the University of St Lucia. During the 1970s, she devoted herself to youth work as part of the City of Brisbane, cultivating meaningful connections with the younger generation. Her career led her to the position of youth editor for the Courier Mail, Queensland's largest newspaper. Here, she orchestrated youth rallies and camps that brought thousands of teenagers together for remarkable events filled with drama, music, and coffee shops.

Pauline spent eight years hosting and producing "Pauline's Place" on the Channel Nine network during the late seventies and early eighties.

Together with Stan, she co-wrote and produced "A People To Belong To," a theological journal and ideas magazine distributed across Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and Canada for twenty years, embracing technological advancements in its later issues.

Stanley James Stewart, a native of Victoria, grew up in the Victorian bushland as the youngest of five siblings. His journey began as an electrician, but he soon realized his calling to become a Minister. His dedication to the role of babies and children in churches and society led him to become a researcher and writer. Stan conducted workshops and seminars across Australia, New Zealand, the USA, and Canada, making a lasting impact. His extensive body of work includes authoring several books on the subject and promoting inclusive community-building practices, particularly in worship and important events that involve people of all ages.

Beyond his church work, Stan played a key role in organizing Australia's welcome to the World Council of Churches conference, an event that spanned two years of planning and organization, leaving a memorable impression on thousands of participants.

Despite some setbacks and personal losses, both Pauline and Stan remain committed to their work. They continue to find inspiration in their shared endeavors and the pursuit of building connections and communities through their writing and collaborative projects.
